Canada vs. USA 2012 Summer Series

Once both Hockey Canada and USA Hockey have selected rosters for their respective Under-18 and Under-22 National teams their first test will be against each other.

The last few years both Hockey Canada and USA Hockey have participated in this summer series between the two national teams. This has been a good start to each team's season against their toughest competition out there. It allows both teams coaching staff's to better understand their respective strengths and areas they need to work on.

The Under-18 Team's will compete based out of the Schwan Super Rink (National Sports Centre) in Blaine, Minnesota.

While the Under-22 Team's will compete out of the WinSport Canada Athletic & Ice Complex (Rink A) in Calgary, Alberta.

Under-18 Games:

Under-22 Games:

August 16, 2012 @ 7:00pm

August 17, 2012 @ 7:00pm

August 19, 2012 @ 10:00am

The 2011 Summer Series saw the Under-18 Canadian Team win two out of the three games (2-3L, 3-2W, 6-4W). Key performers for Canada were: Meghan Dufault (three goals), Rebecca Kohler (two goals), Laura Stacey (two goals). Key performers for the USA were: Anne Pankowski (two goals).

While the 2010 Summer Series saw the Under-22 Canadian Team win all three games (4-1W, 6-5W, 7-2W). Key performers for Canada were: Laura Fortino (two goals), Jill Saulnier (two goals),Jennifer Wakefield (three goals), Marie-Philip Poulin (three goals). Key performers for the USA were: Monique Lamoureux (three goals), Hilary Knight (two goals).

Many players from each of the 2011 Under-18 and 2010 U-22 Series have found a place in the Canadian Women's Hockey League, not limited but including: Hilary Knight, Jennifer Wakefield, Rebecca Johnston and Vicki Bendus.

Clearly the level of hockey seen at these series is not on par with competitions later in their respective seasons, but this is a chance to see the future stars of the CWHL and Women's Hockey on display.
