As my first few weeks back in Vienna wrap up, I am settled and thoroughly happy with my decision to play hockey for the Sabres for another year. Last weekend we took a trip to the Czech Republic for a tournament with teams from Russia, Czech and Slovakia. We had one game a day and spent the rest of the day at the top of a mountain (where our hotel was situated) at the pool, in the sauna, and out for a couple beers with teammates in the little Czech town at night.

For now, I’m enjoying my last week of staying up late, sleeping in, going to the river and practicing at night before I start my au pair job next week.

On Friday night, our team has a dinner ceremony at Rathaus (beautiful City Hall, my favorite building in Vienna!) for the Gala, an event honoring all the nominees for Vienna’s best sports team. On Saturday I am planning a bike wine tour in the wine country of Austria for the day, so it should be a great weekend! That’s it for now, until next time …

XOXO hockey girl
